PREJUVENATION: Aging is Optional with These Latest Skincare Treatments
Updated: Nov 10, 2021

Technology is advancing at lightning speed, including skincare technology. From laser treatments to microdermabrasion, HydraFacial, and now Morpheus8 and Lumecca, the options to “prejuvenate” your skin are unlimited. Prejuvenate is a term that plastic surgeon Dr. Beverly Friedlander of Short Hills likes to use to describe the steps we should be taking in our twenties, thirties and forties to slow down our bodies’ aging process. Dr. Bev recently hosted an educational event on how to take control of our skin by improving texture, tone, wrinkles, scarring, sun damage and more through advanced technologies Morpheus8 and Lumecca.
If you think your serums, retinol and moisturizer aren’t satisfying your need for ageless skin, allow me to introduce Morpheus8. Morpheus8 is a non-surgical alternative to traditional facelift surgery. The treatment delivers radiofrequency waves (not radiation) deep into the epidermis (outermost layer) and the dermis (below the epidermis). These waves are delivered via 24 ultra-tiny microneedling pins, aiding in collagen and skin cell generation, and can penetrate as deep as 4 millimeters into your skin (something your serum cannot do). Don’t worry – a topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area 1 hour prior so you won’t feel a thing!
Benefits of Morpheus8 • Tightens your skin as a facelift would • Boosts collagen production • Shrinks pores • Treats active acne and scarring • Improves mild sagging and wrinkles • Fades stretch marks • Natural results • NO DOWNTIME
Morpheus8 can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, arms, abdomen, knees and areas with stretch marks or scarring (C-section scar? Absolutely!). Each treatment is customized to you, so the number of treatments and intensity varies. Good things take time, so have patience with your results. You’ll begin to see improvements over 2-3 weeks.
Lumecca IPL (intense pulsed light) is another non-invasive treatment that helps reverse damaged skin. Lumecca uses photothermolysis, a type of light energy produced by lasers to help resurface the skin by heating the dermis and pulling pigment (dark spots) to the surface of your skin. The pigment or spots are usually absorbed into the body or they flake off in the days following the treatment. Lumecca can be used to treat broken capillaries, sun damage, hyper/hypopigmentation, rosacea, enlarged pores, and more. Like Morpheus8, a topical anesthetic can be applied to sensitive areas.
Benefits of Lumecca IPL • Reduces age spots, sun damage, vascular lesions, freckles • Improves rosacea, hyperpigmentation, melasma • Evens out skin tone (you’d be surprised how uneven your skin tone actually is!) • NO DOWNTIME
You skin may be slightly pink after the procedure, but again, patience is key. You will begin to see results over the following days and weeks.
Pro Tip: Use SPF 30+ on your face DAILY! Sun’s out? SPF. Cloudy? SPF. Raining, snowing, windy? SPF! Your skin will thank and repay you. Always apply sunscreen after your moisturizer.
